Volunteering at Flagstaff Hill is a great way to contribute to the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage in our region and work alongside and socialise with like-minded people in a fun and rewarding environment.
We welcome those with a willingness to try new things and share their expertise and knowledge to help create memorable experiences for our visitors.
Volunteers perform an array of vital roles within Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village, Museum and Warrnambool Visitor Information Centre.
Volunteer roles include:
- Visitor Services Assistants (Visitor Information Centre)
- Tour Guides
- Gardeners
- Maintenance workers
- Historic Researchers and Collections Assistants
- School Holiday Program Assistants
- Dressmakers
- Hospitality assistants (food & beverage)
- Village shop keepers and business activators
To become a volunteer with Warrnambool City Council applicants must:
- Be 15 years of age or over
- Have a valid Working with Children Check or obtain one (only required for volunteers aged 18 years and over)
- Undertake a Fit2Work Police Check
- Complete a formal Warrnambool City Council Volunteer Application
- Attend an interview
- Supply details of 2 referees
- Complete a relevant training program for your volunteer role (if required)
Volunteers can undertake multiple roles within the Flagstaff Hill precinct and will be offered training in their preferred area/s.
