Flagstaff Hill offers many unique learning opportunities

Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village offers a rich and engaging educational experience that brings history, geography, and environmental learning to life. Students can step back into the 1800s and explore what daily life was like in a coastal village, while also discovering the fascinating maritime and whaling history of the Shipwreck Coast. The site provides insight into the region’s unique geography and highlights important environmental and sustainability efforts, including those connected to the Middle Island Project.

To support active learning, Flagstaff Hill offers a variety of self-guided exploration trails. These trails encourage students to independently navigate the village, solve problems, and think critically about what they encounter. Whether working individually or in teams, students can build confidence, collaboration skills, and a deeper understanding of the site through hands-on discovery.
