Four Fascinating Fridays at Flagstaff Hill
This October, join us at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village for a special series of Seniors Festival experiences combining history, humour, hands-on activities and a traditional Devonshire tea.
Across four Fridays, discover the secrets hidden beneath Victorian fashion, meet one of Warrnambool’s famous Maremma penguin guardians, step back into an 1870s classroom and uncover fascinating local stories and collection treasures with our Museum Curator.
Come along to one session, or enjoy the full series and experience something different each week.
Friday 9 October – Corsets & Curves
Discover how Victorian women reshaped fashion and themselves through an ever-changing parade of corsets, crinolines, bustles and petticoats. With humour, history and the chance to try on selected garments, you’ll discover that the secret to Victorian style was often what was hidden underneath.

Friday 16 October – Maremma Experience
Learn about the Little Penguins of Warrnambool’s Middle Island and the remarkable Maremma dogs that help protect them from foxes. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet a Maremma and take a photo at the end of the session.

Friday 23 October – Back to School
Mind your manners and sit up straight as our schoolteacher takes you back to an 1870s Common School classroom. Try your hand at writing on traditional slate boards and experience what school life was like more than 150 years ago.

Friday 30 October – Local History Uncovered
Step into the fascinating stories of Warrnambool’s past. Discover pioneering local businesswoman Mrs Sybilla Kucks, learn about the Warrnambool Militia and enjoy a rare opportunity to view selected collection treasures with insights from our Museum Curator.

$25 per session or book all four for $80 and save $20.
Bookings are essential, with a maximum of 40 participants per session. Early booking is recommended.
