AUTUMN ADVENTURES School Holiday Program

March 30th – April 12​th

Spend your school holidays in an enchanting maritime village that is alive with kids activities, farm animals, yummy food, fresh air and ocean views. 

Activity Descriptions:

Cooking Up a Storm — Using a traditional recipe, measure & mix to create yourself a take home bag of yummy treats. Be careful you might find it so yummy it won’t even get home!! Sessions suitable for primary age – 15y/o children. Limit: 30. Book at Reception. All children wanting to participate must book a spot   

Reading, ‘Riting & ‘Rithmatic — Be on your best behaviour as the School Ma’am shows you how to behave in the 1870’s Common School. Dress in period costume, role play & use slate boards. Don’t misbehave or the School Ma’am might have to get her cane out & you don’t want that! Sessions suitable for primary age. Limit: 30. Book at Reception

Easter Bonnets — Adults and children bring along your finest fashion flare and create a unique Easter bonnet using a variety of new and up-cycled materials then join us at Day on the Hill on Easter Sunday to show off your creative headwear in the Easter Bonnet Parade for your chance to win great prizes.

Woven Easter Baskets — An Easter egg hunt is not complete without this must have Easter accessory. Prepare yourself for the arrival of the Easter Bunny and create your very own woven basket to fill with delicious Easter eggs.

Hanging Beaded Eggs — not the sort you can eat but a beautiful beaded decoration for the house or a lovely gift for Easter Bunny! 

Flagstaff Hill Garrison Cadets — Join the Flagstaff Hill Garrison Soldiers as they take you on an historical military journey. This new activity invites participants to dress up in military costume, grab a musket and experience a drill and musket firing re-enactment as a Garrison Cadet. Sessions suitable for 5 – 15y/o children. Limit: 30 Book at Reception.

Letter Search with the Jolly Lighthouse Keeper— Follow the instructions given to you by the Jolly Lighthouse Keeper, keep your eye on the map and information sheet to find the letters hidden in various locations around the village. Once you have collected all the letters return to the Chartroom to work out the phrase on the answer sheet to receive your chocolate treat.

Triton Woodworkers — fun and easy woodwork activities for the kids. Choose from a wide selection of pre-made kits to build. With a friendly team of helpers on hand. D.I.Y has never been this much fun. From Monday 30th March to Friday 10th April.

 

Daily Activations:

Enjoy a Guided Tour - Every day at 11:30am you can join a guided heritage tour of the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum and Heritage Precinct. Hear all about the history of Flagstaff Hill and its impressive artefact collection, and discover the stories behind treasures like the $4 million Minton Peacock statue. Tours are suitable for all ages.

Stella Maris Tearooms - During the school holidays the Tearooms are open daily 10.30am – 2pm. Indulge in a Devonshire tea or enjoy a light lunch whilst taking in the views over the village.

Mrs Kuck’s Confectionery - With jars of old favourites lining the walls our lolly shop offers a treasure trove of nostalgic sweet treats to delight everyone.

Tales of the Shipwreck Coast - Nightly on dusk, Tales of the Shipwreck Coast takes you on a journey through the ages. Experience three epic true stories told through light projections onto a nine-metre water wall. From local creation stories of the Gunditjmara people, to our colourful whaling past, then to the most notorious shipwreck on the Great Ocean Road, the wreck of the Loch Ard. Don't just learn about the history, experience it.
