Spend your school holidays in an enchanting maritime village where you can make and create, meet the Maremmas, Time Travel Tour with the Jolly Lighthouse Keeper and much more. Acitiviy Descriptions:

Whale Talk - Little Winter kicks off on Monday 1st of July. At 3pm on Monday come and hear from whale expert and researcher Mandy Watson from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. Find out why Warrnambool's Southern Right Whales are so special and endangered. It's going to be a whale of a time!

Time Travel Tour with the Jolly Lighthouse Keeper   — Have you ever wanted to time travel? Well here is your opportunity! On Wedneday July 3rd children will join their time travelling Lighthouse Keeper on a magical journey back to the early 1800s. Follow the guide who will take you down into Flagstaff Hill where you can explore the village, meeting shopkeepers, a nurse, garrison soldiers and a blacksmith. Each child will need to solve a mystery which they will do with the help of those that they meet on their adventure.

Triton Woodworkers - are back in 2019 with fun and easy woodwork activities for the kids. Choose from the wide selection of premade kits to build your own toys and decorations. From lighthouses, ships, to dolls cradles and chainsaws - with a friendly team of helpers on site - D.I.Y has never been this much fun.

Cooking Up A Storm — Using a traditional recipe, measure & mix to create yourself a take home bag of yummy treats. Be care-ful you might find it so yummy it won’t even get home!! (Limit 30. Book at reception. Sessions suitable for primary age – 15y/o children. All children wanting to participate must book a spot)

Pen nd Ink - Be on your best behaviour as the School Ma'am shows you how to bahave in the 1870's Common School. Dress in period costume, role play & use slate boards. Don't misbehave or the School Ma'am might have to get her cane out & you don't want that! (Age:Primary School. Limit 30. Book at Reception).

Maremma Mobile — Design a maremma mobile that tells the story of the dogs that protect the Little Penguins on Middle Island in Warrnambool. Use a variety of materials, colours and templates to make a beautiful mobile to hang in your room.

Woolly Dolls— Handmade dolls were very popular in the 1800s for both boys and girls. Many were made of paper. Come along to this session and make yourself a cuddly wool doll. These are great to play with or as decorations for your room.

Penguin Softie — Before Ken and Barbie, cuddly soft toys and unbreakable play buddies were a child’s best companion. Use a pattern and an array of materials to make your very own penguin soft toy.

Magical Sea Dragons — Create your very own sea dragon puppet complete with moving limbs and googly eyes.

Jewellery Making — Paper Bead Necklaces. Using a variety of textured and colourful paper, design and make your own unique colourful beads. Thread them together to make a fabulously interesting and colourful necklace.

Meet The Maremmas -  is a fun, educational and interactive experience running Monday to Friday at 10am during the winter school holidays. Learn about little penguins and the importance of protecting them!

Enjoy a Guided Tour - Did you know every day at 11.30am you can join a guided heritage tour of the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum and Heritage Prescient? Hear from one of the knowledgeable volunteer guides about how Flagstaff Hill and its impressive artefact collection came to be, and the hidden stories behind treasure like $4million Minton Peacock statue. Tours are suitable for all ages. 

Warm up in the Stella Maris Tearooms -  during the school holidays our Tearooms is open daily 11am - 2pm. Be sure to sample our new winter menu full of gourmet toasties, pastries, pies and great coffee! 

Tales of the Shipwreck Coast - Nightly on dusk, Tales of the Shipwreck Coast takes you on a journey through the ages. Experience three epic true stories told through light projections onto a nine-metre water wall. From local creation stories of the Gunditjmara people, to our colourful whaling past, then to the most notorious Shipwreck on the Great Ocean Road, the wreck of the Loch Ard. Don't just learn about the history, experience it.
